Ten-man Al Jazira Down Servette FC

ABU DHABI — Al Jazira defeated Servette FC of Switzerland 2-0 in a friendly game at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Sunday.

In a match that witnessed three red cards, Jazira scored through substitute Tarek Ahmed and Ahmed Jumaa.

Servette FC currently play in the Switzerland Challenge League, the second highest tier in Swiss football.


Despite being down to 10 men with Yaser Matar sent off in the 55th minute, Al Jazira went ahead in the very next minute through Tarek Ahmed. Two minutes after Tarek’s goal, Ahmed Jumaa increased the lead.

Servette FC were down to 10 men as well when Schneider was given marching orders in the 69th minute. Two minutes later, Servette FC were down to nine when Kasonga joined Schneider on the sidelines.


Brazilian forward Rafael Sobis returned after a six months break due to injury. Sobis, who cost Jazira a then-record Dh 65million in 2008, was coming back from a knee ligament injury which had kept him out since May. He was injured during the game against Al Ain in the Etisalat UAE Pro-League.
