Australia, the only bidder to host the event, have been afforded further time to formalise their plans with the AFC now waiting until after July to announce the hosts. ¡°The revised date provides FFA (Football Federation Australia) further opportunity to continue discussions with various levels of the Australian government and other stakeholders to formalise the relevant guarantees and facility agreements,¡± the AFC website said on Thursday (www.the-afc.com).

Australia are also bidding to host the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups but their campaign has suffered problems at home with a row over access to the country¡¯s stadiums. ¨ûID:nSP481926¨ü
