Sharjah were reduced to ten players after UAE referee Fahad Al Kassar issued marching orders to the Iranian pro Mizare Zare in the 74th minute.

The result was very crucial for Al Shabab who are facing a real threat of relegation to the second division along with Al Emarat and Al Nasr. Al Shabab were also beaten 1-3 by promoted Al Emarat in the President Cup’s final last week at Zayed Sports City Stadium.

However, the UAE Football League is witnessing an exciting confrontations at both ends. Al Wahda are showing the way with 49 points. They won 16 out of 19 starts with two defeats and one draw to go five points clear with three rounds remaining. Al Jazira are second with 44 points and need a miracle to claim a historic first-ever national league silverware.

But there is another interesting battle in the middle of the table for the third place between Al Ain (third) and promoted Bani Yas (fourth). The top three finishers of the competition will secure a line-up in the continent’s premier competition the AFC Champions League. So far, Al Ain have collected 38 points and Bani Yas are 5 points adrift in fourth.

At the bottom of the table, Ajman are already relegated to the First Division League, though they have reached the final of the Etisalat Cup which means they may end their season with a silverware farewell.

Al Emarat, winners of the President Cup need to improve to maintain their Pro-League status. They are 5 points behind former champions Al Nasr who slipped to the 10th position with 19 points.

The games of the remaining three rounds will be held on May 2, May 9 and May 16. All the matches of each round will be played at the same time.
