Dubai - Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital, the first and only UAE-based hospital dedicated to children, aligned its third anniversary celebrations with the ongoing Dubai Fitness Challenge, the 'Al Jalila Fitness District'.
Besides indulging in health tips and on-site workouts, the event kicked off on a high note with the youngest DJ in the world, seven-year-old DJ Michelle. Various entertainment zones at the venue gave the children the opportunity to engage with fitness and fun activities all through the afternoon.
Since its opening on November 1, 2016, Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital received around 100,000 young patients, while its 24/7 emergency department witnessed 22,000 visits for the same period, and conducted 3,700 surgeries, out of which were around 300 complex heart surgeries.
In 2019, Al Jalila Children's added 10 new speciality services, allowing young patients to have access to premium paediatric healthcare. The state-of-the-art medical facility treated 8.5 per cent more children compared to 2018.
On the educational side, Al Jalila Children's projected encouraging indicators. Through their innovative 'PaedsX' programme, around 50 educational events were organised, with over 2,000 medical practitioners attending the symposiums.
