When it comes to make-up, it seems Lupita Nyong’o likes the retro look she flaunted recently at the MTV Movie Awards. She was seen in a Chanel dress and completed the look with make-up inspired by the 1970s disco era.
Make-up artist Nick Barose ensured it was not too outlandish, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “It’s pretty out there. We went with something kind of 1970s disco-inspired, but wearable, not costume-y. When you’re wearing a really colourful dress, silver is a good option,” said Barose.
The make-up artist used Lancome Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base, Color Design Infinite 24H eye shadow followed by Color Design eye shadow in ‘All That Glitter’, a black liquid eyeliner and two coats of mascara on her top lashes. The look was topped off with a salmon-pink lipstick. Barose said: “We didn’t want to compete with the eye. This colour isn’t too bright, but it still pops.”
The actress was thrilled with her final appearance. Barose said: “She loved it. She looks good in every colour. We always go for something fun that we haven’t done before.”
