Wie will be the official golf ambassador and spokesperson for Kia Motors. Terms of the deal were not announced.

The Korean-based automaker also will be title sponsor of the Kia Classic, to be played March 25-28 at La Costa. The 1.7 million-dollar event will be the first tournament of the 2010 season on US soil. The LPGA season opens next week in Thailand.

Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing for Kia Motors America said the company decided to take the step after posting their 15th consecutive year of increased market share in the United States.

La Costa, which was last on the national golf stage as host of the Match Play Championship now held in Arizona, has never hosted an LPGA event.
