Israel and Hamas blame each other as Netanyahu rules out the group's demand for an end to the war in exchange for the freeing of hostages
In early signs of return to normalcy in the education sector, private schools in Abu Dhabi can welcome back all students from today while maintaining a maximum capacity of 30 pupils per classroom. However, Sharjah has announced 100 per cent online classes from today to February 28. The emriate has announced 100 per cent distance learning for all public and private schools from February 14.
Private schools can now have 30 students in a classroom
The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has issued policy guidelines to parents on the resumption of classes.
On August 30, schools had started receiving students in phases with a maximum number of 15 in a classroom. Now, the capacity has been doubled and students of many grades will be in classrooms for the first time since March 2020. “All students may physically return to school starting February 14, 2021,” Adek said in its parents’ guide.
All staff and students aged 12 years and above need a Covid-19 negative PCR test to attend classes. Outdoor activities during the physical education classes can be resumed by following precautionary measures. Meanwhile, parents continue to have the option of remote learning for their children.

Sharjah has announced 100 per cent distance learning for all public and private schools starting today until February 28.
On February 10, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) confirmed that this shift to e-learning will apply to all students in the emirate, including those in nursery schools.
The decision has been taken as part Covid precautionary measures and after the approval of the emirate’s local emergency, crisis and disaster management team (ECDMT).
The SPEA, along with ECDMT, will be monitoring the health situation to ensure the safety of students, teachers and administrative staff, Al Hosani said.
The attendance of teaching and administrative staff on the campus will be left to the discretion of schools’ management teams, he added. However, he reiterated that all precautionary measures must be followed, including PCR tests every two weeks.
Since last year, 90 per cent of students in the emirate have been studying remotely.
