Worker held for bid to molest six-year-old
The Sharjah Police on Monday arrested a Bangladeshi worker who allegedly assaulted and attempted to molest a six-year-old Arab girl in the lift of her building in Mysalon.
An official at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Sharjah Police said that they received a complaint at Al Heera police station from the father of the victim. The police team searched for the suspect and identified a worker in a restaurant near the victim’s house in Mysalon. After confirming the information, the police arrested the suspect near the restaurant where he works.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime and told the police that he saw the girl going to her apartment and followed her until she entered the lift and he tried to rape her. He assaulted the girl when she resisted, he told the police. The suspect was referred to the public persecution.
