Aid agencies warn that a humanitarian disaster in Gaza is worsening by the hour with most of its 2.3 million people left homeless
The police said they had received several complaints across the emirate related to thefts, which saw several women becoming the target of bag and purse robberies at several shopping malls and centres.
As a result of the information provided by the victims, the police launched an investigation into the spate of thefts and deployed Criminal Investigation Department officers throughout shopping centres, during which they arrested a woman red-handed. The suspect, who already holds a criminal record and is wanted by the police, has been identified as F.A.B.
After raiding the woman’s apartment, a large number of women’s bags and stolen items were seized.
The police urged the public to be careful while shopping and called on the commercial outlets to hire security guards and install cameras to prevent such kinds of crimes.
