The incident allegedly happened in April when the defendant turned herself in at the Naif police station saying she killed a man in her flat in Freej Al Murar as he tried to rape her.

Though she refused to have sex with him, the man insisted and before he could rape her, she stabbed him in the chest. A police lieutenant said during the prosecution investigation that the defendant came to the police station around 12.30pm that day. She was tense, shaking and crying. She kept saying “I killed somebody”.

As she was lying on her bed in the shared flat that day, she was surprised to see the victim in her room. She had seen him once before. He tried to have sex with her. She resisted him and as he insisted, she brought a big kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest. The lieutenant quoted the defendant as saying that she wanted to defend her honour.

She led the police to the knife she had hidden in the false ceiling of the flat. The Public Prosecution said in its remarks that the defendant gave contradictory statements. She alleged that the victim insisted on having sex with her. She also narrated how she got up from the bed and went to the kitchen to bring the knife. According to the prosecution, she could have left the flat but she went towards the victim and stabbed him.

An Ugandan guard, the victim’s friend, reported the incident after seeing the defendant running down the stairs of the building with bloods on her hand. She was screaming “I killed him, I killed him”.

He learnt from a woman friend that the defendant had stabbed the victim. The guard added that the victim was supposed to give him a ride to Mirdiff that day. He knew that he went to defendant’s flat.
