An Iranian, who was found guilty of spying for Iran by importing generators and equipment to be used in Tehran's nuclear reactor project, has had his appeal rejected by the Federal Supreme Court.
Earlier, the Abu Dhabi Federal Appeal Court had found the man guilty of spying for Iran and sentenced him to 10 years in jail. He was also ordered to be deported at the end of his jail term.
Presided by Mohammed Al Jarrah AL Tinaiji, the state security circuit on Monday rejected four other appeals. These rejections are final and incontestable.
An Emirati man's appeal against his conviction for joining Daesh was rejected. The convict was earlier jailed for 10 years for joining the Daesh terror group in Syria. He also set up accounts on social media to urge youths to join the terror outfit.
In the third case, the court rejected the appeal of two Bahrainis who were jailed for three years and fined Dh500,000 for trying to incite sectarian tensions. They circulated a video clip on WhatsApp to do this.
In the fourth case, the court rejected the appeal of a Sudanese man, who was jailed for two years for joining terror organisations in Syria and Iraq. He was found guilty of opening accounts on social media to promote terror ideologies. He was also found guilty of defaming the policies of Saudi Arabia and the UAE by publishing articles and video clips.
In the fifth case, an Emirati had his appeal rejected after he was found guilty of joining Al Islah group, which is affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.
