Two Emiratis die, seven rescued in Oman deluge

Two UAE nationals were among six people killed in floods caused by heavy rains in Oman on Thursday. The Emiratis were crossing a wadi in a car in Dhank in the Dhahirah governorate when their vehicle was engulfed by swirling flood waters. They drowned before rescue teams could reach them.

The four others killed were two Omanis, one of them a six-year-old boy who was swept away by flash floods while he was playing in a wadi, and two Pakistanis.

Meanwhile, police rescued seven UAE nationals who were stranded by flood waters in Wadi Tannam in Ibri in the Dhahirah govenorate. Civil defence personnel rushed to the scene after being informed by local citizens and towed their 4WD to safety.
