The suspects, who were impersonating police officers when they kidnapped and assaulted the woman, also committed a series of robberies targeting Asians.

The police said that they received a call to the operations room from someone informing them that three men had entered his house claiming to be police officers, before stealing his money and kidnapping his Ethiopian maid.

The police immediately launched a search and investigation to apprehend the suspects. Initially, the police suspected a man identified as S.A.J., who they believed had a connection with the crime and carried a criminal record for thefts.

When his picture was presented to the victim, she immediately identified him. During the arrest he confessed to the crimes and notified the police of his accomplices.

The police then arrested the other two men including A.H.Y., 40 and W.H.Y., 26. All three suspects confessed that they entered the man’s house, stole his money and kidnapped and sexually assaulted the maid in an isolated house.

The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Police urged public, specially Asians, not to respond to people who pose as police officers who are asking for their wallet or personal values and should always ask to see their police ID first.
