The one-and-a-half-year-old boy strayed on to the street in front of the villa and was crushed beneath the tyres, a police spokesperson said on Thursday.
The boy’s uncle, who was driving the car, and another kin rushed him to Al Qasimi hospital where he was admitted in the intensive care unit but he succumbed to the injuries soon after.
“He had severe wounds on most of the body and despite all efforts by our team to save his life, we lost him,” a hospital spokeswoman said.
The police have once again appealed to motorists to slow down near residential areas to avoid accidents involving children.
