Released prisoner behind bars again for drug use
A prison inmate who was released after serving his jail term on drug use charge was once again handed a one-year jail term by the court of appeals on Tuesday after he tested positive for consuming a mind-altering drug.
A.Y was detained by the anti-narcotics department of the Fujairah Police while he was at the anti-narcotics department to undergo a routine blood test.
A.Y seemed abnormal and anti-narcotics officers referred him to the medical body that subjected him to a blood test which revealed that he had consumed a mind-altering drug.
The prosecution charged him with taking drugs and the Court of First Instance and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment that has been upheld by the appellate court.
