Professor proposes, student disposes
The Ajman criminal court sentenced an Arab university professor to one-year imprisonment followed by deportation for threatening to kill his student and her family belonging to the same nationality, after she refused to accept his marriage proposal. The accused was also sentenced to six months’ jail for threatening to send his henchmen to kill the student’s father when he returned to his home country, and also all his extended family members who lived there.
When the father lodged the complaint at the police station, the accused pointed at the father in the presence of the police and threatened to slaughter him.
The public persecution also charged the accused of misusing Etisalat communication services to threatenand hurt people’s feelings by sending messages stating: “if you refuse to come and meet me you will face harsh punishment.”
