Nine arrested for gambling
Nine Asians have been arrested for gambling and betting in Sharjah, the police said on Saturday.
Eight of them are Bangladeshis and the other is a Pakistani.
They were found to be involved in betting and gambling on roadsides and neighbourhoods like Rolla, a police spokesman said. Police carried out a raid on Friday and rounded up all of them, he said. All of them were illegal residents.
The police have once again urged people to report if they suspect illegal residents are staying in their neighbourhoods.
The spokesman said that illegal residents were mostly found to be involved in crimes that threatened the safety of the country.
