The Ajman Criminal Court sentenced a 27-year-old African man to six months in prison for assaulting and biting an on-duty police officer in Ajman after he was caught putting massage service cards on car windshields near a residential building. He will be deported after serving his jail term.
Police records showed that while on patrol, the police officer nabbed the man in the act.
The accused tried to escape, resisted arrest and beat up the officer, causing him injuries.
During the hearing, the police officer said the accused punched him in the face, kicked him and also bit his right hand. The cop added that he was accompanied by his colleague when the incident happened.
The accused told the court that an Asian woman had hired him to distribute the cards for Dh1,000.
