His Syrian friend B.M., a clerk, who was driving the car at the time, raised the radio’s volume so that none would hear the woman screaming.

Twenty-four-year-old M.T faced the charge of molestation while B.M., also aged 24, was charged with criminal complicity in the Court of First Instance.

The Japanese woman, who works as an airhostess, told the prosecutor that in September last year, she was waiting for a cab outside her building at Al Nahda 1 in Al Qusais around 1.30 am when a car stopped in front of her. M.T was driving the car while B.M sat in the front passenger seat.

M.T offered to drop her at the airport as she was wearing the airhostess’ uniform. She did not accept the offer initially but she agreed because M.T stepped out and kept her baggage inside his car trunk and asked her politely to get in.

When the car stopped at a traffic signal, the two men exchanged their seats and B.M took the wheel. M.T then sat in the back seat and began touching and kissing her while she resisted him. He tried to undress her and force himself on her. All the while, she was screaming but B.M. raised the radio’s volume so that no passerby would hear her. The car doors were locked.

M.T asked the woman to give him money but she did not and finally, they dropped her.

M.T admitted during interrogation by the prosecution that he had fondled and caressed the woman against her will.

B.M. admitted that he assisted M.T by driving the car as the latter molested the woman.
