Man run over by road-paving vehicle in UAQ
An Asian resident, identified only as A.N., died after a vehicle used in paving a bypass road accidently ran over him on Tuesday.
“The driver did not notice that the victim was standing behind the heavy vehicle,” said Lt-Col Saeed Obaid Bin Aran, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at the UAQ Police.
“This is the second such case on the same road recently,” he said, adding that the ambulance and traffic patrols rushed the victim to the UAQ Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The recent statistics show that the emirate has seen 1,223 traffic accidents in the first five months of this year. “These resulted in seven deaths and injuries to three people,” Lt-Col Bin Aran said.
