Man blinds compatriot for 'gawking at women'

Ajman - The victim was walking near a shopping mall when the defendant hit him in his left eye, claiming he was gawking at women.

An Asian lost his eye after a compatriot assaulted him for gawking at women outside a shop in Ajman. An Ajman court on Tuesday sentenced the assailant to six months in jail and ordered him to pay Dh100,000 to the victim as compensation.
According to court records, the incident was reported in Karama centre in February.
The victim was walking near a shopping mall when the defendant hit him in his left eye, claiming he was gawking at women. Passersby noticed blood coming out of the victim's eye and called his sponsor, who in turn, called the police. The victim was rushed to Shaikh Khalifa Hospital, where doctors said his eye was permanently damaged.
