Man accused of assaulting wife

A housewife filed a lawsuit against her husband accusing him of assaulting and threatening to kill her.

In her statement to the Family Prosecution, the 26-year-old Emirati housewife said that her husband assaulted her with his hands and a stick on the day of the complaint. She alleged that he always beat her for no reason and she had bruises on her hands and right arm as a result of that. She also said that he verbally abused her and her family. She filed a complaint against complained against him with the Hatta police Station.

In the following day, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she did not drop the charges against him. An Emirati woman police officer, 27, testified during the investigation that she heard the defendant threatening to kill his wife over phone if she did not drop her accusations against him. He threatened her with the same words twice. The wife had called the officer and she was crying. The officer said that there were constant disagreements between the complainant and the defendant. The defendant had previously assaulted his wife and he had vowed in writing not to do it again.

The officer said that the complainant called her on the phone in early May and told her that the defendant assaulted her again. The officer went to the complainant’s house and she saw fresh bruises on the wife’s arm and back of her head.

The wife was crying. The defendant was called to the police station and procedures were taken against him.

The following day, the complainant called the officer on phone and she was crying. The officer heard the defendant threatening to kill his wife if she did not drop the charges against him. He threatened her twice. The husband faced assault, threat and insult charges in the Court of First Instance.
