A man handed life term for murdering his wife had the sentence reduced to 15 years by the Fujairah Court of Appeals. The court upheld the Dh100,000 blood money to be paid by the man to his wife's heirs.
The Emirati man had killed his 29-year-old wife, NA, in Fujairah's Wam district in 2014, reported Al Bayan
When the victim returned from a trip in Abu Dhabi, the couple had a fight.
As the quarrel escalated, the man pushed his wife to the ground, and then strangled her to death with a shimagh (male head scarf).
After he was arrested, the Emirati was subjected to psychiatric tests in February last year.
Initially, he was extremely uncooperative as well as aggressive and expressed his annoyance at the investigators.
He didn't show signs of emotional disturbance, but his anger was quite evident throughout the sessions, the report added.
The man gave out all the details of the crime in a very coherent and chronological manner.
The investigators pointed out that the man was conscious of his actions and realised the gravity of his crime. He apparently suffers from impulse control disorder, they contended.
