The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered the man to be imprisoned for an extra year for possessing the mind–altering drug Alprazolam for consumption.

Alprazolam is a sedative anti-spasm pill that helps muscles relax and induces sleeping. It is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. The court also ordered the seized contraband be destroyed. The accused has been cleared of the charge of using Spice drugs. The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Abu Dhabi Police received reports that the accused was trading Spice after he had bought the contraband over the Internet.

He somehow managed to bring in the illegal shipment by an express courier company, but was arrested red-handed in possession of the parcel in which nine wrappers of Spice had been recovered.

The man confessed to importing the drug with the intent to promote it.

A medical report proved that the accused had consumed Alprazolam, yet he tested negative to using Spice.

The accused will be deported after being released from prison.
