According to a senior officer, the tragedy on the Red Island Road of Ras Al Khaimah on Friday evening at 8pm occurred as the motorist lost control over the steering wheel.

“The 42-year-old Arab woman motorist, identified as S.D.A., suddenly veered the vehicle off the road, which crashed into a lamppost and overturned several times off the road,” said Colonel Abdullah Ali, Director of the Traffic and Patrol Department, Ras Al Khaimah Police.

Elaborating, he said the woman was travelling in the car with her 14-year-old daughter, identified as S.H., who was sitting in the front seat. “Three of her friends, identified as F.M.S., 16, N.M.S., 20, and Z.M.S., 18, all Arab, were sitting in the back seat.”

The Central Operations Room, having been alerted of the accident, dispatched police, traffic and rescue patrols to the scene, and all the victims were pulled out of the smashed car.

“The motorist and her daughter died on the spot whereas the other three women were shifted to the hospital where Z.M.S. passed away.”

“While F.M.S. sustained serious injuries, N.M.S. was moderately injured. They are both still in hospital for treatment.”

In another accident, a 19-year-old Emirati man died after the car he was driving overturned, while he was performing car stunts at a shutdown motor ring in the Awafi area without notifying the concerned authorities or taking permission.

“The victim lost control over the speeding vehicle, which overturned several times, and he was killed on the spot.”
