A Dubai visitor is standing trial at the criminal court for trying to smuggle 144 capsules of heroin - weighing 1,169.9 grams - by swallowing the drugs and hiding them inside his stomach.
Documents of Dubai Public Prosecution revealed that the incident happened on November 14, 2020, when the 34-year-old man of Asian origin landed at the Dubai airport.
While he was getting through the check point, authorities noticed that he had something inside his body. On being examined, the police found eight packs of heroin in his stomach.
After interrogating him, the man admitted that he was trying to smuggle the heroin. He was immediately arrested, and the drugs seized. The man was referred to the public prosecution for further legal action.
