An Asian expat recently stood trial in Dubai for stealing vehicle batteries. He confessed to the crime, saying he did it out of a need for money.
Court records show that the defendant and his friend were caught stealing batteries from trucks parked in Dubai’s Al Quoz Industrial area. The incident reportedly happened at midnight on August 8. A police officer was in the area when he noticed the duo tinkering with the trucks. The accused had been arrested while his friend managed to escape.
The 29-year-old expat admitted that he was going to get Dh100 for stealing the batteries, adding that he agreed to the theft because he needed the money, according to court documents. The police then referred to his case to judicial authorities.
