The 30-year-old policeman from Oman was charged in the Court of First Instance with soliciting a bribe in his post as a public officer.

According to prosecution records, the policeman issued a traffic ticket on the Filipina after she ran her car into another car and he claimed he could write off the original ticket copy if she kissed and had sex with him in his car.

The complainant, a 40-year-old manager, told the prosecutor that she caused a minor damage to another car when she was exiting a parking lot in Oud Metha one morning in March.

The driver of the Raffa Police patrol who reached the accident scene allegedly told her that she was a beautiful woman and the fine would range from Dh1,000 to Dh5,000 and she would get 10 black points.

He promised her that he can reduce the fine and the black points and gave her his mobile number. After this, he called her many times and explicitly told her that he wanted to have sex with her and that it would not take much time in his car. The woman told him that she was married and her family was here but he said that he had a family in Oman. He insisted on seeing her but she ignored his phone calls for a couple of days.

She filed a complaint with the police and was summoned to the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence. Following this, she was instructed to coordinate with the police officers to catch the defendant red-handed.

Initially she was told by the officers to ignore his calls for a while. Then, about one week after the accident, the defendant called the woman again. This time the call was recorded. They agreed to meet in his car in the parking lot behind a shopping centre in Bur Dubai. An Emirati police lieutenant said during the investigation that he arranged for a police unit which was spread around the area. It was about 10.30pm and the plan was to raid the car within one minute after the woman stepped into it. The lieutenant instructed the woman to open the car’s door and run away if the defendant attacked her suddenly.

The defendant took the original ticket copy from the woman and took his pants down saying that he would not take much time but the police raided the car.

He told the cops that she was his girlfriend but later confessed that he was to cancel the ticket for her when the original copy was found in his wallet. Another Emirati police officer said that the woman’s fine was Dh210 only.
