The official at Sharjah police said the eight rolls of cable belonged to a Saudi commercial company, where the two suspects work as truck drivers. The company sent the workers off to transport the goods to a company in a near by emirate, but instead they attempted to sell the goods to another company.

Police received information from a source about the presence of two Pakistanis who tried to sell large quantities of cables, at slashed prices. Based on this information, police then conducted an investigation.

The cables had been shipped from Saudi Arabia and were to be transported, by trucks, to a another company. The drivers were instructed to inform the sender company about the arrival time of the goods so as to notify the receiver company, but the drivers ignored all communication. The two had intended to breach the trust by selling the cables and running away.

Police initially suspected three Pakistanis. CID officers, in coordination with Dubai police, arrested two Pakistani men and the third, who was acting as a middle man to promote the goods, escaped arrest. The two suspects confessed to their crime but denied knowing the where abouts of the third man. Police later informed the sender and receiver companies about the incident and the case has been referred to public persecution.
