The Ajman Police arrested the 34-year-old Asian worker on Saturday after a video that caught him in the act went viral on social media. The police were notified by the municipality which shut down the bakery immediately for failing to abide by the health and hygiene regulations.
Major-General Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said that the local Crisis and Disaster Management Team has issued an order to the owners of all restaurants and bakeries to instal surveillance cameras in the baking area to ensure quality, cleanliness and safety during food preparation.
He explained that the swab of the arrested worker was taken for Covid-19 testing, which came back negative. The case has been transferred to the public prosecution for further legal action.
Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi urged the public to take all precautions to protect themselves from Covid-19, stressing the importance of staying at home.
