Arab national jailed for raping Filipina cleaner

A 46-year-old Arab national has been sentenced to six years in jail by the Ajman criminal court for raping a 26-year-old Filipina who worked as a cleaner at his apartment in Al Khor buildings in Ajman.

The court read that the accused had forced the cleaner for sex after he convinced her that he is the one who called her cleaning company to clean his apartment.

The cleaner was sent by her company to clean up an apartment in Al Khor towers in Ajman, but not the accused's apartment.

According to the investigation record, the accused approached the cleaner and asked her to accompany him to his apartment for cleaning. When she entered the apartment, he attacked her and removed her clothes and then raped her. DNA tests conducted by the forensic laboratory established the crime.

The accused initially denied the crime and said that the victim asked him for Dh1,000 and he only paid her Dh200, so that she lodged complaint against him.

The cleaning company manager testified in the court that her worker is a decent wife and mother and had never had any problems since the last five years when she joined the company.
