The Bangladeshis were arrested from various areas on Wednesday — including Al Rolla area, Al Mussalah area, and Al Wahda Street — as part of the police inspection campaign targeting the practice of illegal activities, including the sale of banned tobacco, alcohol and begging. During the investigation, all the suspects apprehended were found to be absconders, infiltrators and with many wanted by police departments across the country.
Colonel Jihad Sahoh, Director of Search and Investigation Department of Sharjah Police, told Khaleej Times that the police will continue the inspection campaign based on plans put forward in coordination with many concerned authorities such as municipality and society establishments. He urged members of the public to cooperate with police by informing the Authority about such kinds of illegal activities in order to help contribute towards the prevention of such crimes: “The society is considered (the) main vital partner in ensuring peace and security in the emirate,” he added.
