Team Seven Seas Strikers prevail
DUBAI — A stupendous innings of 103 by Asif Iqbal helped Seven Seas Strikers register a comfortable win over Seven Seas Blues in the Farid Malik Memorial Cup, a press release said.
The tournament is being held at the Seven Seas and Khansaheb Ground.
In the first match of the day, Seven Seas Strikers defeated Seven Seas Blues by 165 runs. Batting first, Seven Seas Strikers made 263/6 in 20 overs. Asif Iqbal performed brilliantly scoring 103 runs (35 balls, 16 fours and 5 sixes). It was his second century of the tournament. Asif was strongly supported by Faraz who played a splendid innings of 63 runs. Sudharashan took three wickets.
Chasing the target, Seven Seas Blues were all out for 98 runs in 16 overs. Visak remained the top scorer with 30 runs. Among the bowlers, Qadar stood out with three wickets, while Mohsin took two and Freddy Sidhwa took one wicket respectively.
In another match, Ahmed Eleven CC defeated XI on Top by 36 runs. Batting first, Ahmed Eleven CC scored 249/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Majid displayed a superb batting performance scoring 103 runs off 38 balls (8 fours, 10 sixes). Majed was also supported by Asanka who scored 43 not out.
Akshay took two wickets while Mahesh and Rajesh took a wicket each.
Chasing the target, XI on Top were able to score 212 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Akshay batted brilliantly scoring 74 runs without losing his wicket. He was assisted by Neville who scored 55 runs. Both batsmen, however, were unable to lead their side to victory.
Shehzad was the best bowler taking two wickets, while Bruce, Asanka and Naeem took a wicket each.
