Nucaf trounce Al Manal

DUBAI — Jai Prakash Shetty ( 47 off 34 balls) helped Nucaf Tellicherry to beat Al Manal Group by five wickets and win their first match of the G Force Premier League tournament, organised under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council, at Zabeel Park.

Al Manal Group, who won their first match against Standard Chartered Bank, will now have to win their last league to qualify for the knock-out stage.

Al Manal scored 143 runs in 20 over with Ahsan’s 31 runs in 18 balls and Shahzad’s 40 being the best. Nucaf Tellicherry’s spin trio of CTK Mashood, Gopal Jasapara and Mohd Azam bowled excellent spells to restrict Al Manal under 150 runs. Azam got 3 wickets for 43 and was most wicket-taker for Tellicherry.

In reply, Nucaf lost a couple of wickets in the first 5 over. But Jai Prakash (47) and Safdar (44, 36b) added 78 runs for the third wicket as Nucaf won in the 19^th over. For Al Manal, Waheed got 2 wickets. Man-of-the-match award was jointly given to Prakash and Azam.
