Westminster, chasing Al Ain Sportplex’s total of 139 for victory, were coasting after a first wicket partnership of 74 runs between Reuben Abraham (50 runs) and Umer Daud (36).

But once Daud was dismissed, the Westminster YTCA innings fell apart as they lost six wickets in quick succession to totter at seven down for 119 runs on board at the end of the 22 over. The Al Ain Sportplex bowling duo of Muqeet (3 for 18) and Shahir (3 for 27) did the bulk of the damage.

Westminster YTCA, however, were bailed out by a timely knock of Abbas who remained unbeaten on 8 runs. Abbas along with last-man Ali Mirza got the required runs with just one ball to spare off Asghar’s over.

Westminster opening batsman Reuben was later declared the man-of-the-match for his brilliant 50 runs scored with the help of three boundaries.

Earlier, Al Ain Sportplex opting to bat first scored 138 runs for 8 wickets.

In-form batsman, Shahir Qidawi made 26, studded with four boundaries, while Salem Qadoos hit five boundaries in his knock of 37 runs. Liam Karlsson and Chirag Suri took two wickets each for Westminster YTCA.
