Farra Whites score 1-run victory

AL AIN - Al Faraa Whites survived a scare before scoring a one-run victory over Abu Dhabi’s SKMC in a nail-biting finish in a Division A encounter of 20th ACA Winter League in Al Ain over the week-end. In another match, skipper Ghafoor Butt’s unbeaten 103 helped SKMC crush WED CC by seven wickets.

Al Faraa Whites were restricted to 194/8 with some fine bowling from Saif and Sikander, who claimed two wickets. SKMC were proceeding well and required 40 runs in last 6 overs but succumbed under pressure being all out for 193 on the last ball in a nerve-racking finish.

But SKMC returned in the afternoon with a resolve to beat WED CC and scored a 7-wicket victory as skipper Ghafoor Butt hammered an unbeaten 103 (8x6s, 10x4s) to help his team reach the target 241 in 21 overs. Earlier, WED CC’s Sajjad Hussain hit a chanceless 93 while SKMC’s Sikander bowled a good spell taking 2/36.

In a ‘B’ division match, Al Ain Badshah CC’s batsmen dominated the scene against Tabeer CC with a century by Akhtar Chaudry (103, 8x6s, 7x4s) as the former reached a huge 262/4 in 21 overs. Tabeer CC were rocked by fine bowling by Zaheer Ahmad, who tool 5/19 in five overs as Al Ain Badshah won by 71 runs.

In other ‘B’ division matches, ICC comfortably won against Capital CC by 8 wickets, Kashmir CC beat Nael Bin Harmel by 6 wickets while Al Faraa Blues were outplayed by Al Shuja CC losing by 7 wickets in one-sided matches.Brief scores ‘A’ Division:

Al Faraa Blues lost to Al Shuja CC by 7 wickets.
