Chennai wins place in Champions League semi

Chennai Super Kings closed out a 10-run win over the Warriors on Wednesday to seal a place in the semifinals of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament.

The Warriors also qualify for the last four despite being held to 126-8 at St. George’s Park in reply to Chennai’s 136-6 in the final group game of the tournament. It was the Warriors’ first defeat.

Warriors captain David Jacobs hit 32 from 31 balls but Ravichandran Ashwin took 3-24, including the vital wicket of Mark Boucher (25), to keep the IPL champions in the competition. Victoria misses out from Group A on run rate.

Chennai faces Bangalore in Friday’s semifinal in Durban. The Warriors play South Australia in Centurion on Saturday.
