The UAE has vaccinated 83,302 residents against Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the total doses administered now stands at 2.57 million. This takes the rate of doses per 100 people to 26.
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that it is rescheduling appointments for those who were set to take the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine amid a global supply crunch. However, those who were already booked for a second shot will not be affected, it said.
Medical experts in the UAE have strictly instructed jab takers not to skip their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. "The second dose is more important than the first one as this is what will stay in the body as memory-T cells, Helper-T cells and matured B-cells to ward off the infection later on," said one.
