The first special evacuation flight from the Gulf region to Indian state of Karnataka will be operated from Dubai on May 14.
Air India Express IX814 will fly from Dubai at 4.10pm to Mangalore, Indian Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda tweeted on Friday.
This is a major relief for Kannadigas in the country, said Karnataka NRI Forum, UAE, president Praveen Shetty.
"We were sad as the first batch of flights had no mention of any services from Gulf countries to the state of Karnataka. We took up the matter with Indian federal and state ministers.
"Finally, we have had confirmation today. Many Kannadigas in need of medical assistance and other urgent requirements can now leave next week," he said.
