Dubai Economy has confiscated a large quantity of medical masks during a raid at an illegal warehouse operated by a shipping company in Ras Al Khor area of Dubai.
Ibrahim Behzad, Director of the Intellectual Property Rights Department at Dubai Economy, said the inspection was carried out to ensure the protection of consumer rights.
During the inspection, it was found that millions of pieces of medical masks were being repackaged into branded packets to be sold on the local market.
Thousands of pieces of cloth masks were also seized during the inspection.
Dubai Economic officials are currently conducting an inventory of the seized goods.
The authority closed the warehouse and took necessary actions against the company for violating the law. An official added such violations can attract up to Dh5,000 in fines.
