The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has ordered closure of five commercial establishments for not complying with the instructions issued by the department.

As part of its consumer protection and monitoring activities, the department also issued fines on 19 establishments and warned 111 firms over one week, it was announced on Thursday. Violations included not adhering to the safety regulations issued by ADDED and increasing prices of products illegally.
The department conducted more than 5,000 inspections in one week, covering grocery stores, fruits and vegetable outlets, restaurants, pharmacies, shopping centres, gyms and beauty salons, money exchange houses and other establishments. During the inspection campaign, 193 products that didn't meet the standards specified by the department were also seized.
