Sharjah has extended 100 per cent distance learning in all public and private schools and nurseries until the end of spring semester on March 25, the authorities announced on Thursday.
The decision was issued by the Local Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management team in Sharjah, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Sharjah Private Education Authority.
During the e-learning period, the authorities would closely monitor health indicators and study the development of the Covid 19 situation in the country to effectively take the necessary action and take into account the health and safety of the students, teachers and staff in the emirate.
It is left to the discretion of schools to decide whether administrative, teaching and other staff would be physically present on campuses while continuing to adhere to the mandatory PCR tests every two weeks.
Educational institutions are required to fill out daily reports on TAMAM platform during this period. However, the authorities are urging the school community to take the Covid vaccine to ensure the safe return of face-to-face learning, said the authority.
Meanwhile, the local team — through the Executive Committee for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management — continued its multilingual awareness campaign via drones to educate the community on the need to adhere to the preventive measures and procedures to limit the spread of Covid-19.
The committee called on everyone to follow preventive measures and stick to wearing masks avoid gatherings, and stay away from everything that exposes the community to the danger of the virus. It also urged residents to get the jab and cooperate in efforts to fight Covid-19.
