Coronavirus: UAE reports 430 new Covid-19 cases, 760 recoveries, 1 death

More than 49,000 new Covid-19 tests have been carried out, the health ministry said.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday reported 430 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 760 new recoveries. One death was also reported.

Recoveries have now outnumbered fresh infections for 16 successive days. The number of active cases, at 11,090, is the lowest since May 2, and the UAE's recovery rate stands at more than 75 per cent, compared with the global average of under 55 per cent.
In a statement, the ministry highlighted its aim to expand the scope of testing nationwide, to facilitate the early detection of Covid-19 cases and carry out necessary treatment.
As part of a global collaborative effort to curb the virus, the UAE has started the phase 3 clinical trial of a Covid-19 vaccine that is expected to be available by the end of 2020 or early 2021. It is the world's first inactivated Covid-19 vaccine to enter the third phase of trials.
After 90 days of restrictions, the UAE yesterday announced the lifting of all movement restrictions across the emirates.
Under the programme, residents were required to stay home during the stipulated hours. Residents, however, will need to continue following all precautionary measures put in place to help curb the spread of Covid-19.
Children under 12 years will be allowed at malls and restaurants across the country. With the latest announcement, the movement restrictions on children have been lifted across the emirates.
However, the ministry stresses on the need to avoid gatherings. Authorities advise residents to commit to social distancing when stepping out and wear masks and gloves.
The ministry has also urged the residents to continue following all precautionary and preventive measures in place to fight against the spread of Covid-19.
