The Abu Dhabi Media Office said on Twitter: "In line with the directions from the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee for the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health has issued guidelines for weddings and funerals, which include a maximum of 10 attendees. Taking a Covid-19 test 24 hours before a gathering is also recommended."
The guidelines also prohibit condolence gatherings and people have been advised to offer condolences through telephone or other communication means.
Authorities have also recommended single-use cutlery and utensils at wedding or funeral events.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) on Friday announced a new set of safety guidelines on organising any social event in the country. In a series of tweets NCEMA posted, it clarified that besides the maximum number of 10 people, a family event should be restricted to first-degree relatives.
Outline for the new guidelines:
- Only formal wedding ceremonies may take place, with a maximum of 10 guests in total.
- Wearing face masks all the time.
- Funerals to take place with a maximum of 10 attendees.
- Condolence gatherings are not permitted. Instead offer condolences by telephone or other communication methods.
- Use single-use cutlery and utensils (if needed).
- Take a Covid-19 test 24 hours before attending any gathering or event
- Ensure the capacity of the venue allows for physical distancing of not less than 2 meters.
