The Department of Economic Development-Ajman (DED-Ajman), in cooperation with Beit Al Khair Society, has announced its participation in the '10 Million Meals' campaign, an initiative of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Initiatives Foundation, which is the largest national community campaign to provide meals, food parcels and rations to those in need and affected by the current Covid-19 crisis.
The DED is currently distributing about 230,000 meals, at an average of 9,000 meals daily, in various parts of the emirate during the holy month of Ramadan, as well as the handing out 1,780 food baskets to the affected families.
Ali Issa Al-Nuaimi, director-general of DED-Ajman, said: "Our participation in the humanitarian and societal campaign, which is the largest of its kind in the UAE, comes within the framework of our social responsibilities.'
He explained that DED-Ajman, in coordination with Beit Al Khier Charity Association, prepared database of the families who are the most affected by the current crisis, and facilitated the organising body to reach the targeted groups.
A team has been formed from the employees of the DED-Ajman and Beit Al Khair Association to distribute meals in workers accommodation in the emirate throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Abdin Taher Al-Awadi, director-general of Beit Al-Khair Society, said: "The society is participating in the campaign with more than two million Iftar meals to be distributed in Dubai, Ajman and Fujairah, in addition to a large number of food baskets and Ramadan Mir."
