Etihad Airways on Saturday suspended flights to Pakistan and reduced services to the US, Australia, the Philippines, South Africa, South Korea and Switzerland to contain spread of coronavirus.
"Due to the spread of the Covid-19 and its continuing impact on air travel services globally, Etihad Airways continues to follow UAE and international government and regulatory authority directives and has implemented a series of consolidated network changes. This is also being carried out for the safety and convenience of its customers and staff, and to minimise operational disruption during this period," the airline said in a statement.
Etihad will immediately stop services to Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore till April 4. Earlier, Pakistan had announced suspension of all international flights for two weeks.
Other services suspended till April 30 are to Zurich (from March 24), Minsk (from April 2) and Brussels (from March 22).
Many flights are also reduced till April 30. Services to Chicago reduced from daily to four weekly from March 22, Los Angeles from four weekly to three weekly from March 29 and Washington from daily to four weekly from March 24.
Manila sector is reduced from double-daily to daily from March 21, Melbourne from 14 weekly to eight weekly from March 29, Johannesburg from daily to four weekly from March 28 and Seoul from four weekly to three weekly from 30 March.
