Sing for your supper

The Marco Polo Hotel Dubai hosts top Filipino stars Luke Mejares and Frenchie Dy, tonight and tomorrow at its newly refurbished Chaka Grill restaurant.

R&B singer Luke has won a slew of awards for his smooth stylings, including Best Male R&B Artist at the Radio Music Awards 2009.

Luke started his professional musical career when he was chosen as the new vocalist of South Border in 1999, but he left the group in 2002 to go solo. Currently in between recording sessions, Luke co-hosts Sabado Boys, a popular weekly musical talk show in Philippines.

“I am always glad to come and perform for my fellow Filipinos here in Dubai,” he said. “It’s so gratifying to be able to perform for them and heal their longing of missing home.”

Also performing as part of the ‘Soul in Love’ nights is soul diva Frenchie Dy. A commanding figure with a powerful voice and earthy sense of humour, Frenchie was named grand champion of TV show Star in a Million in 2004.
