Your New Year's Day survival guide
The fireworks are over, the streamers have been brushed away and you have a day off. What are you going to do? After last night's festivities you may not want to move too much, or even think, so David Light has taken the hassle out of today with a 'Home or Away' itinerary you can follow while either pottering around the house or out in the big wide world.

Make crepes for breakfast. This recipe is from Koita Milk. Ingredients: 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup flour, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup water, salt, 2 tablespoons melted butter. Directions: In a mixing bowl, whisk the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth. Heat a frying pan over medium high heat. Pour the batter into the pan, using 1/4 cup for each crepe. Cook for about two minutes until brown then flip.
Begin 2019 on a refreshing note by indulging in a luxurious breakfast at The Restaurant, Address Boulevard. There's a spread of morning classics featuring  Yuzu Hollandaise, Brioche French Toast, Huevos Rancheros, Belgium Waffles and a selection of coffees, teas and juices. It's on from 6.30am to 11am today and is Dhs137 for the full buffet. What a treat!

Bandersnatch is the latest melon-twister from Charlie Brooker's Netflix anthology, Black Mirror. The two-hour interactive movie (or it could be even longer depending on how you go about it) lets you make the protagonist's decisions for him. Stefan is a troubled computer game designer in 1980s London. Will his latest design be successful? Is there ever a happy ending in Black Mirror?
We love a bit of a wander around La Mer and nothing warms the cockles quite like a cup of mid-afternoon coffee. There are loads of places to visit to do just that, but Starbucks has just brought out its Caramel Popcorn Frappuccino for the first time in the region. How could anyone resist? Job done, in our opinion.

5pm

One of our New Year's resolutions is to listen to more local radio and podcasts. And while this media outlet is gearing up to release its dynamic new output, we're catching up with all Dubai Eye has to offer. Listen to what really matters in the area you have chosen to call home.
The sun is setting and there is only one thing for it during this period of beautiful weather - a walk. The endless sands of Kite Beach beckon to be strolled. Take a massive gulp of sea air, people watch, see the orange sun glint off the calm waters and best of all, it's free!

9pm

While the rest of Europe takes its winter break, British football plays even more games. Today enjoy a festive evening Premier League fixture between Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have to up their game after a shock defeat to Wolves to be in with a chance of lifting the trophy later in the year. Will The Bluebirds be obliging?

A Mediterranean inspired restaurant, Brasserie du Park is stunning and has an offer on every Tuesday. The Fisherman's catch is a raw seafood bar featuring oysters, mussels, scallops, Omani lobster, sashimi, razor clams, salmon and tuna tartare, and salmon ceviche. The chefs at the live stations are cooking up delights such as pan seared scallops and prawns too. It's all-you-can-eat from 7.30pm to 11pm at Dhs225 per person.
