Peggy playing
The first month of 2019 has come to an end - and what a start to the year it has been! To end January, this Friday, Berlin based Korean artist, Peggy Gou will be spinning the decks at Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE. Through a systematic flow of high quality mixes, this artist has begun to turn heads in underground circles around the world, and promises to do just that in this neck of the woods. Her sound can be described somewhere between Detroit, London and Berlin, her DJ sets are solid and include a kinetic combination of dark, pulsing house and techno with broken beats and abstract compositions - this really is the perfect combo. Get there from 1pm.the party lasts all day and night.
Russian connection
Buddha-Bar at the Grosvenor House Dubai has been hosting the DXB sessions, each one based on a different Buddha-Bar venue. On Friday they will welcome Buddha-Bar Saint Petersburg to Dubai, bringing with it new music, new food and new signature beverage experiences. The one and only DJ Renat - direct from Saint Petersburg - will make his return to Dubai, taking to the decks to get the party started. They will also be serving up some delicious Russian-style dishes straight from the Saint Petersburg menu.
Soulful sounds
Alternative and relaxing, Papon LIVE will be taking place at the Hard Rock Café Dubai on Saturday from 9pm. This is a great venue in which to spend the evening before heading back to work and the night promises to take you on a soulful journey of music with the multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and record producer, Papon. Arabic music
Hani Shaker from Egypt, popularly known as 'The Prince of Arab Singing', and Lebanese artist, Wael Jassar will be bringing their top hits and classics to Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Friday. The two artists are gearing up to unveil Al Majaz Amphitheatre's 2019 events season, which will be followed by more live concerts. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets: Sharjah's Platinum List.
Short + Sweet
The biggest ten-minute play festival in the world, Short+Sweet Dubai, returns to The Junction in Alserkal Avenue from Friday for its biggest line-up ever with over 100 plays set to hit the stage. As always with Short+Sweet audience voting plays a key role in deciding which plays progress to vie for the title of winner of Short+Sweet Dubai. During the Festival the Top 50 strand will be presented every Friday and Saturday night from 7.30pm while the Wildcards take place every Saturday from 3.30pm. All performances are at The Junction, Alserkal Avenue.

Elvis onboard
The legendary record label that brought you Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Rufus Thomas and scores more rockin' pioneers, comes to life live on the QE2 stage this weekend. Head to Theatre by QE2 on Friday from 8pm to 11pm for a five course meal, free-flowing beverages and an evening full of entertainment from the Sun Records Show for Dhs495 per person.
