Gal Gadot to portray Cleopatra in new film

The actress will team up with her 'Wonder Woman' director Patty Jenkins to work on the film.

According to a report in Deadline, actress Gal Gadot will portray Egyptian queen Cleopatra in a new film helmed by Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins.
"I love embarking on new journeys, I love the excitement of new projects, the thrill of bringing new stories to life," Gadot wrote on social media after the news broke. "Cleopatra is a story I wanted to tell for a very long time. Can't be more grateful about this A team!"
According to Los Angeles Times, the Paramount film, which will be directed by Patty Jenkins from a script by Laeta Kalogridis, was Gadot's idea and is being billed as an epic biographical drama.
Fan reactions on social media have been divided over news of Gadot playing the role, and debates have sprung up about Cleopatra's ancestry.
